Welcome to our campus enhancement page! It is our aim to provide timely updates as we move throughout this project. Among the topics that will be addressed as need arises are: general updates, ministry impact, parking impact, building access, and campus safety.

JUNE 27 UPDATE

LATEST UPDATES
The Campus Enhancement Team, working with our partners from Workplace A+D and BLUM Construction, has been busy with critical tasks needed to finalize our budget and keep us on track for an early Fall start! Since mid-May:

  • A site survey of our campus has been completed which, among other things, identifies for the construction team setbacks, property lines, and underground utilities.
  • Interior finish options have been selected for the new gallery entrance, hallway leading to the narthex, and the fellowship hall. Optional finish materials for the flooring and cabinetry were selected that balanced durability, aesthetics, and cost. These options will be narrowed down over the coming weeks as the total final costing is completed.
  • The site plan for our parking lots, sidewalks, greenspace, and a courtyard between the Sanctuary (A) and the Office/Youth (B) buildings has been finalized with help from Stimmel & Associates, a Winston Salem-based civil engineering firm.
  • For the courtyard, we have started evaluating options for the ground surface (e.g., pavers) and related features.
  • The church staff has made significant progress in reorganizing impacted areas of the church to make way for construction to begin.

NEXT STEPS
Over the next 4-6 weeks, we expect to:

  • Finalize a large percentage of interior and exterior finish options which will inform a more definitive total project cost.
  • Finalize and communicate a more precise start date and high-level sequence of construction.
  • Make progress in furniture selection for the fellowship hall.
  • Finalize a safety plan for parking and pedestrian flow on campus.
  • Communicate impact on fall programming and ministries.

GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION
God has been present and faithful throughout this process and before we start seeing walls fall, pavement moved, and our alley converted to a courtyard, we want to come together as a church family to pray, give thanks, hear from the CE team, and celebrate together. Please mark Sunday, August 25 at 9:30 a.m. for a groundbreaking celebration to acknowledge this exciting time in our church history. More details to follow!
