Tearing Down the Walls
Today marks the 60th anniversary of the sit-in at the lunch counter at the lunch counter in the F, W, Woolworths Dept. Store in WS when 10 white students from Wake Forest and 11 black students from WS State joined Carl Edwards, an African American, to protest segregation in our city. It was the beginning of profound change in our community, and later that year city officials struck down the segregation laws in WS. On this historic anniversary, let’s take a look at what the Bible says about racism and the call of Christ to tear down walls that separate us.
