Note From Peter | I am back!
I missed you! And I missed worshiping with this amazing church family. What a treat it was to enjoy the experience of being in the presence of God through the music and the times of prayer and listening to Tim read and proclaim God’s Word to us together. What a gift! I’m so grateful for our talented and Christ-centered staff, and I heard from many of you what an amazing job they all did leading our church and preaching in my absence. We have such a great team. I hope you will tell them how much you appreciate them.
During my travels I was able to see and connect with all my family and many of my friends around the country. I also got to attend a great conference at Whitworth University and audit two remarkable classes at Regent College, which is a seminary in Vancouver, BC. These were powerful experiences for me, and I’m still reflecting on all God taught me during this time. I was also able to have a lot of fun and make some very special memories with my children and grandchildren. They are growing up fast! I even got to help take my oldest grandchild Lleyton to his first day of First Grade at his new school in Nashville last week. So fun!
I am so very grateful to the Personnel Committee and the Session for granting me this sabbatical. It has been a powerful experience of rest, recharging the batteries, and deep reflection. What a gift. As I re-engage in the life of our church, I would like to ask you to join with me in praying for our church. Pray with me for the launch of all the fall programs which will begin shortly, and also pray for the Session as it seeks to discern God’s will regarding a number of important proposals in the coming year. This is an exciting season in the life and history of our church, and I’m eager to discover with you what He has in store for us. What a great God we serve!
