Reverend Dr. Peter Barnes

A favorite scripture verse: Mark 10:45, which says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” I love this verse because it’s the picture of servant leadership, which Jesus Himself modeled in laying down His life for us. Leadership isn’t about being on the top or being in charge. It’s about using your gifts, position, and influence to serve those around you in a sacrificial way to the glory of God. Hanging out with my grown children and my grandchildren, playing basketball and tennis or cycling on the Muddy Creek bike path, and enjoying a dinner with my wife and friends are some of my favorite things to do. (Peter’s first wife Lorie passed away in November of 2016.  He is now married to Cyndy who also lost first her spouse to cancer, and between them they have seven children and eight grandchildren.)
