“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

 Hebrews 10: 24-25

Women's Ministry (darker wheat) 400Faith Through Fellowship

There’s something special about being together as women – there is honest conversation, heart-felt encouragement, and laughter, even when we are in different life phases or stages. Best of all, there’s something special about women encouraging each other to know and experience the grace of Jesus Christ. That is our hope and prayer through our ministry with women at 1st Pres. If you are a woman, no matter your marital status, your work status, your age – you will find a place at 1st Pres to journey with each other as we come to know and experience the love of the Lord more.

The Big Three: loving God, loving others, loving ourselves

When asked (tested, really!) about the greatest commandment, Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  What started as a way to trip up Jesus became one of the most well known summaries of what God asks of us.  The greatest commandments are well-known by us, but are we also known and shaped by them?  Tamika Jackson will be leading us in a deeper exploration of what it means  to let every part of our lives be shaped by the three great loves that Jesus holds up for us.

Speaker:  Rev. Tamika Jackson

Women’s Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study exists for the purpose of bringing women to Christ and discipling them so that their lives glorify God. This is pursued through prayer, worship, personal Bible study, teaching of the Word, and small group discussion.  It is designed for women of all ages, in all stages, and at all places in the spiritual journey.    Women new to Bible Study are welcomed to join any Wed or Thursday.  We meet through the fall (Sept-Nov) and the winter/spring (Jan – April).

On Thursday mornings, an hour of large group teaching and worship is followed by an hour of discussion time.  We begin our time together in the Sanctuary.  There are normally 130-150 women registered.  Wednesday evening we meet in A-211.  Large group teaching is followed by 30-40 minutes of small group.  The average participation is 15-20 women.

This fall, we will continue our study in the book of John (see below for teachings from last semester as example).  For more information about Wed and Thur schedules, and to register, see below.
