Depth

Depth is a small group, but it's also so much more. Depth groups are small groups geared for sophmores, juniors and seniors. They are facilitated by an adult mentor who is a member of 1st Presbyterian (and often involved with Wake Forest). While no one is turned away, applications are no mere formality, they allow us to place students in a group that will best foster their spiritual development and also give us a chance for students to discern ways they can grow in the comming year.

Depth is for all students who want to grow deeper in a relationship with Christ throughout college.  Depth facilitates growth in two ways:

  • Depth Groups: Bible Studies with other students who are committed to meet weekly and to growing deeper in their personal faith with Jesus Christ. Core Groups are lead by an Emmaus associate (an adult who has a heart for college students).
  • Service/Ministry Area:
By committing to an area of ministry students will have an opportunity to develop and grow their God given gifts. This doesn't just mean "doing more." Students often find ways to be a servent in the things they already do or that what they already do is service.

If you are interested in being part of Depth next fall download a DIP, Depth Information Packet .  Check back here for the depth applications in Spring 2008.

Do Stuff Now

Each year we will offer students the opportunity to experience cross-cultural missions. We travel to locations to serve established ministries and partner with the local ministries to reach out to the world with Christ's love. We design the trips to stretch the faith of the college students and present opportunities for them to discover gifts God has endowed in them. Prayer, recognizing the presence of God, and service are key components of every trip, along with laughter, good food, and great friendships.

Spring Break

The DR (Dominican Republic)
March 8-15 we will also be taking a service trip to the Dominican Republic.  It will be service focused as well as hanging out with the people there.  Let us know ASAP if you are interested.  You have until February 1 to make your deposit.  If you interested, contact us.

Get Involved with Emmaus

  • Roadies: Do you have a desire to serve Emmaus on Tuesday nights?  Every Tuesday night a group of students arrive early to help get the Annex set up for the Emmaus.  Roadies also run tech (computer, lights, etc.)  during the night.  All Roadies will receive a free Roadie T-shirt and dinner. If you are interested in being a Roadie send us an email .
  • Worship Team: Worship is an important part of every Tuesday night.  Part of having great worship is having committed worship team who can combine talent and a love for God to lead others into worship.  Worship is far beyond music and Emmaus is very passionate about people using their whole minds, hearts, bodies, and souls to celebrate God.  If you are interested in using your passions within the ministry to glorify God, whether it be through art, music, or something else, please send us an email

If you are interested in spending a couple of months impacting lives for God in another country. AIM (adventures in missions) offers some great opportunities.  Check this site out.

The guys who started this ministry were at the Passion Conference this year.  Five years ago they had this crazy idea to set up a booth at the porn industries expo in Las Vegas, NV in an attempt to build relationships with the people there.  They also launched this website to fill many roles including information and software to help the many people who are struggling with porn.  Check their site out, because it has a lot of really neat things to offer.

This is the website of the Passion Conferences.  You should check this site out because it has a lot of information geared toward college students.  Passion is continuing to try and do a lot of neat things for the Kingdom of God.  Next year they won't be putting on another of their tremendously successful conferences, because they're not trying to be an incredibly successful conference business.  They want to change to world for God, so they are going to travel around and put on some smaller conferences as well as travel across the globe to put on conferences in other countries at no cost to them.  Check them out, they're doing neat things.

Internships

We are now accepting applications for our Full Time Internship position. You can download the application here.

Emmaus is part of a network of church-based college ministries called the Ascent Network. Together these ministries offer opportunities for both students and graduates who desire to persure a call to minister to college students accross the nation. Emmaus offers two kinds of internships: student and full time. Each is described briefly below:

Student Internship: This part time internship is the first chance to "get your feet wet" in the world of college ministry. Students involved with emmaus who are interested in making a year long commitment to the ministry should consider applying for this opportunity. The internship takes on many forms and is a chance to discern your own gifts and passions.

Full Time Internship: This internship is open to graduates who have received their bachelors degree from across the nation. As the name indicates it is a full time job - but it's no desk job. Applicants should be highly motivated to meet, disciple and fellowship with students on various campuses. An 'excellent minimum' is expected on all administrative responsibilities - using the least amount of time to produce the best results allowing maximum student contact time and less time behind your desk.
