There is no safer or more exciting place in your backyard than the sandbox: a place of exploration and fun.

Sandbox Child Care

Childcare for ages newborn to younger 2-year-olds is provided during all Sunday worship services, Sunday School and regular Wednesday evening programming.

Our trained, caring staff will be waiting to greet you and your child as early as 8:45 am in their age appropriate classrooms.

+ Infant Room (6 weeks to babies who are crawling) - This room has comforts for each baby and a nursing area for mothers.

+ Crawler Room - Babies who are actively mobile until walking.

+ Toddler Room - When your child is walking and climbing steadily, it is time to move on. Here the children

      begin some structured activities as they have a special time with music, pray together and learn about the

      world God made.

+ 2-year-olds - Stay in their classroom and hear the same Bible story and sing the same songs that the older

      preschoolers will hear at the Backyard Theater. As the year progresses and the children become more

      comfortable in their new classroom, they will be transitioned over to the Backyard Theater large group

      teaching with the other preschoolers.

Childcare ends promptly following the end of the 11:00 am services. Please pick up your children prior to going to fellowship time.

Visiting for the 1st Time?

Welcome! We are excited for your arrival and encourage you to come to the Backyard office window to check-in your child/children. Our Children’s Ministry is centrally located in Building A at the corner of the first floor hall off the Marshall Street entrance in room A-101. At this window, we will explain our check-in procedure, answer any questions and personally take your child to his or her room. A greeter, information center host or nursery host can also direct you.

Care for Other Events

Registered child care for children up to pre-K is also provided for MOPS, Thursday Women's Bible Study, and during special church events as announced. For more information about our Childcare, please contact Melinda Miller @ 336-723-1621 ext. 233.

Security Tag System

The care, safety and security of your little ones is just as important to us as it is to you. For this reason, First Presbyterian has adopted a security tag system in the Sandbox area. When you leave your infant or preschool child(ren) for Worship Care or Backyard Sunday School, he/she will receive a security tag with his/her name and a number on it. The parent will be given a matching tag. During the worship service, if you are needed, your child's number will appear on the lighted worship care board (located on the front sides of the sanctuary and on the large screens in the worship center). When you come to pick up your child, the volunteers will make sure the tags match before releasing your child to you. Please remember to leave both tags in the classroom when you leave.
